1- Description of the profession, the competencies required for the labor market and the required skills:

1- Description of the professions related to the communications specialization: (which the graduate will practice upon graduation from vocational education and training institutions)
The activities of professionals working in the professions related to the communications specialization are different and varied, as they include the installation, operation and maintenance of various communications devices such as broadcasting and aerial reception devices, satellite television station reception devices and others, as well as the installation of telephone networks and transmission lines, maintenance and programming of cell phones, and in the field of marketing these devices. The professions in which graduates of communications specializations work include some or all of the following professions:

Electronic / Landline Telephone Networks:Works under the supervision of an electronic / public telephone networks and extends and connects landline telephone networks, implements preventive and curative maintenance programs, fills out work forms, and applies occupational safety and health procedures and instructions.

Electronic / Communications Antenna:Works under the supervision of an electronic / electronic technician, radio transmitters, installs communications antennas, radio and television broadcasting, programs receivers, implements preventive and curative maintenance programs, fills out work forms, and applies occupational safety and health procedures and instructions.

Electronic / Sub-Exchanges:Works under the supervision of an electronic / public switchboard and performs By installing and operating the sub-switches, implementing preventive and curative maintenance programs, filling out work forms, training the switchboard operator, and applying occupational safety and health procedures and instructions.

Electronic / Telephone:Works alone, or under the supervision of an electronic / general switchboard, and follows up on the installation plans of telephone, intercom and number detector devices, their installation and operation, and implements preventive and curative maintenance programs, filling out work forms, and applying occupational safety and health procedures and instructions.

Electronic / Cell Phones:Works alone or under the supervision of a technician / correspondence, and operates the cell devices, implements preventive and curative maintenance programs, fills out work forms, and applies occupational safety and health procedures and instructions.

2- Competencies required to perform these tasks: (Competencies and skills that are trained in vocational education and training institutions to be able to practice professions related to the communications specialization according to the description above)
To perform the previous tasks, communications workers need to obtain the competencies of knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for this, starting from general competencies in communications principles, to specialized competencies including training in telephone and switchboard maintenance and installation and calibration of satellite devices, and the trainee can:

  1. Identify electronic components and their working principle.
  2. Identify electrical circuits and their working principle.
  3. Identify and use measuring and inspection devices.
  4. Learn about transmission lines, communication devices and systems and their operating principles.
  5. Gain them the ability to install and calibrate communication devices (telephones, telephones, exchanges and satellite).
  6. Gain them the skill of diagnosing and maintaining electrical circuits, various electronic devices and communication devices.
  7. Use the attached maps and technical instruction books in installation, calibration, fault diagnosis and maintenance.
  8. Gain them skills in electrical extensions related to communication systems and devices.
  9. Gain them the ability to deal with the market and market their products, and to establish, manage and develop their own workshop.
  10. Using different computer programs
  11. Mastering drawing on the drawing program for different maps in the field of communications and electronics.
  12. Performing various mathematical operations necessary for the communications profession.
  13. Using professional English to read maps, plans and catalogs
  14. The worker in the communications profession needs the necessary life skills such as communication skills and character building to carry out the required tasks

The worker in the communications profession is familiar with the principles of analog communications (FM, AM), and the ability to plan a local telephone network with its various sections, as well as being familiar with the principles of communications using fiber optics, and how to deal with them in their various types. Also dealing with cellular phone networks and their sections and how they work, and inspecting, examining and diagnosing faults in exchanges, electronic devices and communications devices such as telegraphs, telephones and televisions and repairing them according to the instructions of the company that manufactures these devices and dealing with a large number of linear and digital systems.

  • Telecommunications and cellular communications companies
  • Agents of cellular devices, satellites and telephones
  • Shops selling and maintaining cellular devices
  • Office equipment sales and maintenance companies or telephones and switchboards
  • Shops selling, installing and maintaining satellites or satellite receivers.
  • Shops selling and maintaining electronic devices
  • General electronic device maintenance workshops or installation and private shops.
  • Shops selling electronic parts and devices
  • For his own account or with a professional - especially satellite installation

2- Professional development:
The possibility of starting as a communications professional assistant after graduation, and the period varies according to previous experience and the ability to develop, and then work as a communications professional. It is also possible for his/her work to develop over time to become a specialized communications professional with experience. In the workplace, it is possible to develop to work as a supervisor, and many communications technicians create their own work. Income develops and multiplies according to development, experience and ability to develop, and this is what distinguishes a graduate of a vocational education and training institution from someone who joins the labor market without a profession.
Income and employment are also linked to the general economic situation, but statistics have shown a high ability for vocational graduates to find work or open their own business.

Some of the previous centers provide internal housing for students from outside the governorate. They also provide short courses for workers in the profession.

2- Admission requirements

  • Vary according to the Vocational Education and Training Institution
  • Most of them focus on students who have completed the basic stage of education (tenth grade) and are between the ages of 16-20 years.

There are short courses on demand in these centers to develop the skills of workers in the profession and the unemployed or according to the target group.

3- Possibility of completing education

  • Industrial schools that train through the applied or industrial guidance system
  • Vocational training centers that can hold courses that qualify students to apply for the guidance

Those who have completed the vocational guidance can complete their education in colleges and applied universities. Those who have not completed the vocational guidance through their institution can apply for it through private study two years after graduation and work in the profession (some institutions hold qualifying courses to apply for the exam). However, the certificate obtained from these centers qualifies its holder to work as a professional in the labor market without the need to complete his/her studies.
