Lutheran World Federation
Vocational Training Center, Ramallah
The Vocational Training Center is one of the psychological, social, and humanitarian support programs that the Lutheran World Federation has been delivering to the Palestinian people as of the Nakba. The program includes services in health, medicine, education, and vocational areas. The Vocational Training Center was founded in 2004. It delivers vocational training programs to young men and women from towns, villages, and refugee camps from all geographical areas and districts.
- The center began its training in 1952.
- The center established its buildings in 1964 in Beit Hanina - Jerusalem.
- In 2000, a department for training girls was opened.
- In 2004, a branch was opened in Ramallah to meet the growing market demand for professionals.
Objectives of the Center/Branch in Ramallah:
- Provide vocational training for youth that aligns with the requirements of the labor market.
- Offer vocational training directly linked to the field and the job market.
- Continue to provide quality training for girls.
- Maintain a high level of quality and continuous training.
- Supply the local market with professionals capable of meeting market needs.
Certificates Obtained by Trainees:
- A certified professional diploma from the Palestinian Ministry of Labor.
- A statement of theoretical and practical subjects received by the trainee at the center.
- A certified practical work experience certificate from the Chamber of Commerce.
Training Duration:
- One academic year spent mostly in workshops under the supervision of center trainers, qualifying trainees to work in the job market.
- Short courses vary based on the requirements and needs of the labor market.
