1- Description of the profession, the competencies required for the labor market and the required skills:

1- Description of the profession: (which the graduate will practice upon graduation from vocational education and training institutions)
The activities of the auto electrician are different and varied, as they include examining, repairing and maintaining various motor vehicles, as auto electricians perform periodic maintenance and general inspection operations in addition to repairing various vehicle malfunctions by following occupational health and safety instructions. Some electricians may also work in the field of selling spare parts due to their experience in this field.
When performing periodic maintenance of the vehicle, the electrician reads the maintenance manual issued by the manufacturer, and then determines the methods and standards for examining and adjusting the various systems, as he examines the lighting, ignition and starting systems (starter), cooling and heating systems, electrical closing systems for doors and windows, alarm systems, recorders, audio systems, as well as the horn system in addition to fuel dispensing control systems and electronic fuel injection systems The control systems to prevent the locking of the brakes and the power supply system, including the battery and the dynamo, and the electronic control systems for the automatic transmission and the electrical power supply system and the airbag system and various safety systems in vehicles.
In the event of a sudden breakdown of the vehicle, the electrician determines the system that caused the breakdown, such as the electrical circuit or the ignition system, ....., and then a traceable inspection process is carried out for the concerned system by separating the parts of this system and examining each part separately, and when the defective part is discovered, the electrician replaces it, or repairs it, and then reassembles the system and examines it again. It is worth noting that electronic and computerized inspection devices play a very important role in the process of diagnosing faults due to the increasing technological complexities in cars and the use of electronics in most car systems.
When the vehicle enters the garage, the electrician usually fills out a special card and records its information, such as faults, the odometer and other important matters related to the vehicle, and this information is used as a reference and is kept in the car file for periodic maintenance and repair purposes. Before starting the repair or maintenance process, all necessary measures are taken to maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and the safety of its internal and external parts. Vehicle electricians sometimes carry out general vehicle inspection work in garages, licensing and vehicle inspection departments, or in private workshops to ensure the vehicle’s eligibility, safety, and suitability, in addition to providing general safety requirements on the roads. The inspection steps are similar to those in the periodic maintenance process. A general inspection is also carried out when someone wants to buy a vehicle to ensure its eligibility. Since many electricians run their own garages, they do a lot of administrative work such as bookkeeping, record keeping, employee affairs management, and others.
