1- Description of the profession, the competencies required for the labor market and the required skills:

1- Description of the profession: (which the graduate will practice upon graduation from vocational education and training institutions)
The activities of aluminum workers are different and varied, as they include detailing, cutting, installing and assembling various aluminum bars and profiles with the aim of producing doors, windows, railings, protections, lampshades, verandas and other products made of aluminum, in addition to cutting and installing different types of glass and sieves.
Aluminum works begin by taking measurements from the site, then the type of profiles that are appropriate and consistent with the customer's desires are chosen, then the required designs for doors, windows and others are determined, and for this purpose ready-made engineering plans are used or new plans are prepared, then aluminum workers calculate the quantities of metal required in addition to calculating the costs of the work required to be implemented, then the cutting and detailing operations begin, by determining the lengths and types of bars required for implementation by individuals of engineering plans, and the cutting method is also determined Aluminum bars to ensure the lowest percentage of loss, after the cutting process is completed, the bars are pierced using special molds (presses) for each type of profile or using a milling machine, then the handles and cylinders of the keys and others are fixed, and some bars may be bent by a special machine to produce arches, then the assembly processes begin with riveting or screws and finally the required type of glass is installed, whether regular or double. The installation of the final products on site constitutes the last step, where a frame or metal ring is installed on the walls to fix the window and door channels on it, then the pieces are installed in their locations and the required final adjustments are made to them in addition to installing the sieves. It is worth noting that the uses of aluminum are constantly expanding, as the vast majority of modern facilities rely on the use of windows made of aluminum, or glass facades, and the use of aluminum sheets in the manufacture of shelves and kitchen cabinets and other cabinets and other pieces of furniture has led to continuous expansion, as the use of aluminum is expanding in the manufacture of heating radiators in addition to the use of aluminum profiles in the glass facades of buildings and others Which will open many job opportunities for aluminum workers in the future.

2- The competencies required to perform these tasks: (The competencies and skills that are trained in vocational education and training institutions to be able to practice the profession according to the description above)
To perform the previous tasks, aluminum workers need to obtain the competencies of knowledge, skills and directions necessary for that, starting from general competencies in the field of arithmetic and mathematics to master the required measurements, drawing and design skills, to specialized competencies in the field of cutting, preparing and implementing various aluminum works, to mastering the skills of installation, manufacturing and assembly, and knowledge of the tools and equipment used and general safety procedures. And provide the young man with English language skills, especially those related to the profession, the use of catalogs related to the profession, as well as the skills of using engineering computer programs and those specialized in aluminum work and the necessary life skills and work to build the personality necessary to carry out the required tasks, and the competencies that enable him to carry out the work mentioned in the description of the profession (which are the qualifications required for the labor market). These skills and competencies are acquired through education and vocational training that the young man receives in vocational education and training institutions.

2- Work environment, workplaces and the possibility of professional development:

1- Workplaces

  • Shops selling aluminum and materials and equipment needed for work
  • External workshops in buildings (with building contractors)

2- Professional development:
The possibility of starting as an aluminum works assistant after graduation, and the period varies according to previous experience and the ability to develop, and then work as an aluminum professional. It is also possible for his/her work to develop over time to become a specialist with experience in aluminum works. In medium and large workshops, it is possible to develop to work as an aluminum professional supervisor, and many aluminum professionals create their own work. Income develops and multiplies according to development, gaining experience and demonstrating the ability to develop, and this is what distinguishes a graduate of a vocational education and training institution from someone who joins the labor market without a profession.
In addition, income and employment are linked to the general economic situation, but statistics showed a high ability for vocational graduates to find work or open their own business.

3-Qualification for the profession: (training locations, forms, admission requirements, and the possibility of completing education)

1- Vocational training places
Some vocational education and training institutions provide training in aluminum work only, and others add blacksmithing and welding to the specialization, which qualifies graduates of each of them to work in different fields.

Some of the previous centers provide internal housing for students from outside the governorate. It also provides short courses for workers in the profession.

2- Admission requirements

  • Vary according to the Vocational Education and Training Institution
  • Most of them focus on students who have completed the basic stage of education (tenth grade) and are between the ages of 16-20 years.

There are short courses on demand in these centers to develop the skills of workers in the profession and the unemployed or according to the target group.

3- Possibility of completing education

  • Industrial schools that train through the applied or industrial guidance system
  • Vocational training centers that can hold courses that qualify students to apply for the guidance

Those who have completed the vocational guidance can complete their education in colleges and applied universities. Those who have not completed the vocational guidance through their institution can apply for it through private study two years after graduation and work in the profession (some institutions hold qualifying courses to apply for the exam). However, the certificate obtained from these centers qualifies its holder to work as a professional in the labor market without the need to complete his/her studies.
