Plumbing and central heating

1- Description of the profession, the competencies required for the labor market and the required skills:

1- Description of the profession: (which the graduate will practice upon graduation from vocational education and training institutions)

Plumbing professionals work in the field of installing, maintaining and repairing piping systems (plumbing) used in various facilities, such as drinking water transmission systems in buildings and sewage systems, and piping systems in power plants and factories. They work in installing, maintaining and repairing piping systems used in various facilities. Plumbing professionals must follow engineering plans to determine the paths of the pipes. Then dig the specified paths for the extension network where the pipes are cut according to the required lengths and these pipes are threaded and connected according to the engineering plans. After completing the extension of the network, the professional installs sanitary ware such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs and installs additional pieces such as faucet batteries, sinks, bathrooms, etc. After checking the extension network and ensuring that there are no leaks or errors that impede the free flow of water, the water is connected and the efficiency of the network is verified. The professional also connects the water network with the various solar heating systems and installs the parts of the solar heating system. Some sanitary extension professionals may specialize in working in the field of central heating, whether in assembling and installing boilers and central pumps or in installing, operating and maintaining fuel networks for heating. The central heating professional extends central heating networks in homes, facilities and public facilities according to the specifications specified in the engineering plans. When working in power generation facilities or in factories, tinsmiths install, operate and maintain the pipe networks used to transport steam and other fluids according to the engineering specifications that are determined according to the nature of the fluids transported and the pressure level in the transport pipes and other factors. The professional works by extending pipes of different materials, such as copper, galvanized iron, and plastic, as the majority of pipes used to supply drinking water, sewage, and central heating in buildings are now made of plastic.

2- The competencies required to perform these tasks: (the competencies and skills that are trained in vocational education and training institutions to be able to practice the profession according to the description above)

To perform the above tasks, the professional needs to obtain the necessary competencies of knowledge, skills and attitudes, starting from general competencies in the field of installing, maintaining and repairing piping systems used in public facilities, to specialized competencies in installing, maintaining and repairing piping networks and systems used in various facilities, to familiarity with the principles of pressure calculations, as well as the specifications of various materials and metals and methods of connecting and welding for various materials, and the ability to use tools and equipment and adhere to public safety procedures, as well as the necessary knowledge of solar energy and the various extension systems associated with it. In addition to the above, the skills and competencies related to central heating are added, from knowledge of the various systems and their various parts, such as boilers and pumps, and how to install, operate and maintain them, in addition to some electrical extension skills, to mastering the skills of following engineering plans to determine the paths of pipes and central heating extensions. English language skills, especially those related to the profession, and his knowledge of the catalogs related to the profession, and the skills of using engineering computer programs and those specialized in the profession. And the necessary life skills and character building to perform the required tasks. And the competencies that enable him to perform the work required for the profession (which are the qualifications required for the labor market), in addition to mastering the skills of modern technology that the labor market needs and dealing with the various and modern materials from which pipes are made, and the various modern solar extension systems, and modern central heating such as under-tile heating and others.

2- Work environment, workplaces and the possibility of professional development:

  • Construction workshops (old and new residential and commercial buildings)
  • Construction contracting companies or engineering offices
  • right;">With construction contractors in various workshops
  • Stores selling materials and equipment needed for work
  • Private workshops (with customers)
  • Institutions, universities and hospitals in general maintenance work.

1- Professional development:

The possibility of starting as a professional assistant upon graduation in the workplace or working with a contractor on workshops or according to the workshop in even if you graduated from vocational education and training institutions. The development period in the market varies according to previous experience and the ability to develop, and then work as a professional in the workplace or with a contractor. It is also possible for his/her work to develop over time to become a specialized professional with experience, and in medium and large workshops it is possible to develop to work as a supervisor of plumbing and heating workers and many professionals, work On their own account, or create their own business. Income develops and doubles according to development, gaining experience and demonstrating the ability to develop, and this is what distinguishes a graduate of a vocational education and training institution from someone who joins the labor market without a profession. Income and employment are also linked to the general economic situation, but statistics have shown a high ability for vocational graduates to find work or open their own business.

3-Qualification for the profession: (training locations, forms, admission requirements, and the possibility of completing education)

1- Places for training in the profession:
Some centers provide training in plumbing only, or provide it within other training programs, and others provide training in plumbing and central heating, which qualifies graduates of each of them to work in different fields.

Lutheran World Federation / Jerusalem Plumbing and Central Heating
YMCA / Jericho Plumbing, central heating and pond filtration

Some of the above centers provide internal housing for students from outside the governorate. It also provides short courses for workers in the profession.

2- Admission requirements:

  • Varies according to the vocational education and training institution
  • Most of them focus on students who have completed the basic stage of education (tenth grade) and are between the ages of 16-20 years.

There are short courses on demand in these centers to develop the skills of workers in the profession and for the unemployed or according to the target group.

3- Completing education:
Some institutions are:

  • Industrial schools that train through the applied or industrial guidance system
  • Vocational training centers that can hold courses that qualify students to apply for the guidance

Those who have completed the vocational guidance can complete their education in applied colleges and universities.
Those who have not completed the vocational guidance through their institution can apply for it through private study two years after graduation and work in the profession (some institutions hold qualifying courses to apply for the exam). However, the certificate acquired from these centers qualifies its holder to work as a professional in the labor market without the need to complete his/her studies.
