The role of vocational counselors in educational and vocational training institutions differs from that in academic schools. Students in vocational institutions have already completed the career selection phase. Therefore, the counselor's role shifts to the practical application aspect. Since most students have chosen their professions without complete knowledge of the work environment, job conditions, and the skills required in the job market, counselors in vocational institutions need to help students explore these aspects to achieve the desired vocational compatibility.
To successfully complete this process, it is divided into three main stages:
- Professional Adaptation and Stabilization Stage
- Development of Supporting Skills Stage
- Knowledge of the Job Market and Student Preparation Stage
Tools have been developed to assist counselors in implementing these stages, focusing on vocational adaptation within vocational training institutions. The first step in the counseling process involves understanding the profession and its specific environment, which can be accomplished through workshops and activities within the vocational education and training institution.
