The activities of office equipment workers are different and varied, as they include installing, operating and maintaining various office equipment such as regular and colored document copying machines and their accessories, fax machines, personal computers, fax machines, paper shredders, punching machines, thermal binding machines, etc., and in the field of marketing these devices.
Office equipment workers install devices in offices and institutions, and this process includes ensuring the suitability of electrical extensions and making additional extensions required if necessary, then installing and operating the devices, calibrating them, and guiding the customer on how to operate the devices and recalibrating them and other activities that the customer may need to do. Technicians also set dates for periodic maintenance of the machines and guide customers on simple preventive maintenance procedures that the customer can do himself. Office equipment workers carry out various maintenance procedures on these devices, including periodic preventive maintenance such as disassembling and cleaning parts of these machines and changing worn parts, as well as changing ink ribbons in typewriters or ink cartridges in photocopiers and fax machines when they are worn out. They also carry out periodic maintenance aimed at improving the performance of the machines such as disassembling, cleaning and calibrating moving parts, changing damaged or expired parts, and calibrating the device in a way that ensures improving its performance. When the devices break down, the office equipment technician determines the location of the failure and changes or adjusts the broken parts and restarts and calibrates the machine. Some office equipment technicians work in selling and marketing various devices because their technical expertise is important in explaining the advantages of the various devices to customers and explaining the technical specifications, differences and advantages of each type of these devices.

To perform the previous tasks, office workers need the competencies of knowledge, skills and necessary trends, starting from general competencies in the field of familiarity with the principles of electricity, electronics and mechanics to specialized competencies in the field of identifying electronic office devices such as photocopiers, fax machines, computers and other devices. Also, knowing how they work, identifying their components, reading their catalogs, examining these devices, which require accurate observation and speed in work, testing the functions of these devices, and mastering the training of office users to use the devices in the correct manner, as well as mastering the calibration, installation and maintenance of these devices and identifying the different systems of the various manufacturing companies, and possessing knowledge of the tools and equipment used and general safety procedures, in addition to acquiring English language skills, especially those related to the profession, and reviewing the catalogs related to the profession, and acquiring skills in using computer programs specialized in maintenance work. He also needs the necessary life skills such as communication skills, dealing with customers, and the competencies that enable him to perform the necessary work for the profession (which are the qualifications required for the labor market), in addition to mastering the skills of modern technology that the labor market needs.

2- Professional development:The possibility of starting as a professional assistant in office equipment maintenance after graduation, even though the period varies according to previous experience and the ability to develop, and then work as a professional in office equipment maintenance, and it is possible for his/her work to develop over time to become a specialist with experience in the field of office equipment maintenance, and in medium and large workshops it is possible to develop to work as a supervisor of workers in the field, and many technicians establish their own work (maintenance workshop, sales shops, sales and installation companies...). Income develops and multiplies according to development, gaining experience and demonstrating the ability to develop, and this is what distinguishes a graduate of a vocational education and training institution from someone who joins the labor market without a profession.
In addition, income and employment are linked to the general economic situation, but statistics showed a high ability for vocational graduates to find work or open their own business.

Some of the previous centers provide internal housing for students from outside the governorate. It also provides short courses for workers in the profession.

There are short courses on demand in these centers to develop the skills of workers in the profession and the unemployed or according to the target group.
3- Possibility of completing education
Those who have completed the vocational guidance can complete their education in colleges and applied universities. Those who have not completed the vocational guidance through their institution can apply for it through private study two years after graduation and work in the profession (some institutions hold qualifying courses to apply for the exam). However, the certificate obtained from these centers qualifies its holder to work as a professional in the labor market without the need to complete his/her studies.
